Creative uses of Mobile Applications for Development
In the Caribbean Region the percentage of mobiles in general is relatively high - in St. Kitts and Nevis approximately 180 %.  However, the easy mobile phone and Internet access is not used as a tool to boost the economic development as seen in poorer regions, i.e. Africa, on which SIDA has recently published a report: "The Innovative use of Mobile applications in East Africa (SIDA Review, 2010:12.
 (http://bit.ly/hdLBKU).  The Caribbean Telecommunication Union is aware of the problem and advocates - for instance through the ICT Roadshow Events - to take advantage of the ICTs for economic development, not solely for gaming and Facebook'ing. The ICT4EDC Project plans to collaborate with CTU to set up an ICT Roadshow in St. Kitts and Nevis in May or June 2011.
